Dress Like Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is best known for playing curvy Callie O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy. She spends the majority of her time in scrubs but she knows dress up when the occasion calls for it. Sara Ramirez is not the typical Hollywood waif and if you're not either, you'll want to pay close attention to how she celebrates her curvy figure. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Figure out your budget. Unless you're replacing your entire wardrobe so it looks like Sara Ramirez's, you'll probably want to put aside a set amount of money, so that you don't break the bank.

2. Celebrate your curves. Sara Ramirez is very curvy, but always looks beautiful because she knows what to wear, to accentuate her assets. Avoid tube tops and tapered leg jeans.

3. Keep it casual in a simple top and jeans. A black top would be the most slimming, but don't be afraid of color.

4. Dress it up with curve-hugging gowns. Red works great with Sara Ramirez's hair color and skin tone, but find the color that works best for you.

5. Go back in time with your style. Sara Ramirez favors retro looks on the red carpet. When you're picking out your dress, think of another voluptuous bombshell, Marilyn Monroe.

6. Accessorize. Pick out shoes, jewelry and a purse that fit the occasion. For instance, you wouldn't wear a diamond necklace to a casual lunch and you wouldn't wear sneakers on the red carpet.

7. Do your hair in long waves or curls or pin it up with curls around your face, to top off your "Sara Ramirez look."

Control Adrenaline Flow

Boxers try to control their adrenaline flow before a fight.

Adrenaline flow can work as either an ally or a foe, giving you a "fight-or-flight" response. When you need a boost of energy, adrenaline is a great help. However, when you're in the middle of a crisis, adrenaline will raise your stress level, making it difficult to deal with the situation. It's important to control your adrenaline flow when you're in the midst of stressful times. You can control both the physical and mental impacts of your adrenaline rush.

Instructions

1. Control your breathing. Deep breathing can calm you down and lower your adrenaline level. Breathe in slowly, and breathe out for a few seconds longer than you breathed in.

2. Create a "battle cry." This is a technique that members of the military use to lower their adrenaline levels and turn their stress into positive energy. You can come up with a sentence that you'll repeat to yourself or even a chant that you say loudly. Anything that will calm you down and channel your energy will do the trick.

3. Act quickly. The sooner you respond to your adrenaline rush, the sooner it will go down. You may have to physically move your body or simply control your thoughts, but either way, act as soon as you feel the surge of stress.

4. Practice controlling your adrenaline. You may not be able to lower your stress levels as much as you'd like the first few times you attempt to. However, as you get more used to noticing when your adrenaline is sky rocketing and you practice techniques to lower it, you'll become better at the task.

Buy A Mountain Bike

Mountain bikes can be expensive. Here are a few things you should consider before buying one.

Instructions

1. Keep in mind that decent mountain bikes are lightweight, responsive and easy to handle on challenging trails.

2. Call and visit your local bike shop. Bike store employees can usually help you decide exactly what type of bike you need.

3. Decide how much money you're willing to spend. If you'll be racing, you may need a better (i.e more expensive) bike than one used primarily for recreational trail riding with friends.

4. Experiment with friends' bikes before you buy your own. Ask your friends if they're happy with their bikes and make a mental list of the pros and cons of each bike.

5. Scan the Internet and the local classifieds for used bikes. You can often find exactly what you want for a lot less money than you would pay for a new bike. Bike stores often offer last year's models at significant discounts.

6. Be sure to test-ride a bike before you buy it. Make sure it's the right size and is comfortable to ride. If you buy from a store, ask the salesperson to recommend a proper fit for you based on your personal build.

7. Ask yourself: Is this the bike I really want? If the answer is yes, buy it.

Change Your Running Stride

Professional runners often have different strides than amateurs.

From misaligned knees to lower back problems, a poor running stride can result in a number of physical problems either immediately or over the course of several years. You may have tried to change your stride in the past, but found you quickly forgot and reverted back to your natural stride. If you're a regular runner or jogger, a new stride will not only address physical problems, but also help you run faster and for longer.

Instructions

1. Shorten your stride. Intuitively, you may think a longer stride will make you travel faster, but when you run with long strides, your knees absorb a greater impact with each step. The increased pressure will cause damage to your knees and slow you down. You can shorten your stride by leaning forward slightly.

2. Avoid hitting the ground with the heel of your foot first. This can cause you to lean backward slightly while running, slowing you down and harming your legs. Try to land on the ball of your foot instead.

3. Keep your feet in the air for as much time as possible. You will travel faster if you remind yourself to pick up your feet while running. Try to raise your back foot as soon as the front foot touches the ground.

4. Practice running at a high rate of speed, even if you are just an amateur runner. Competitive speed running requires better posture and a different running stride than casual running. Try timing yourself and striving to beat your record. This will help make you a better runner and improve your overall stride. Pushing yourself will keep you from reverting to a comfortable but incorrect stride.

5. Do not bounce up and down while running. If you find yourself bounding while running, you are wasting unnecessary energy moving up and down rather than forward.

6. Hire a personal trainer. Although you may be able to overcome difficulties with your stride on your own, a personal trainer can monitor your running and tell you improve further. Trainers can also remind you to correct your stride whenever you forget.

Cool Down After Running

Whether you're completing a marathon or finishing up a quick jog around the block, making sure your muscles and joints cool down properly is an essential step for staying healthy. The cool down period lets your blood flow properly and maintains steady circulation. This is an important step after any activity and is part of the natural recovery process. An effective cool down can help you build strength, endurance and also protects muscles and joints. Here are some effective strategies for cooling down after running.

Instructions

1. Begin with a five to eight minute jog or light walk. Steadily lowering your heart rate can help your body wind down after physical activity, and this is the healthiest strategy for maintaining steady circulation as well.

2. Breathe deeply. Make sure your body can supply enough oxygen and blood to all your muscles for recovery by taking deep breaths. You can combine this with stretching exercises in the next step.

3. Stretch core muscle groups. Begin a stretching routine that stretches out core muscle groups such as your thighs, calves, abdominals and back and hold each pose for at least 15 to 30 seconds. You can also stretch your arms, shoulders and chest muscles in succession to cool down each area of your body with ease.

4. Drink water. Drinking water will help replenish lost fluids in muscles and joints and can help you cool down naturally. This is especially important for long-distance runs and jogging that causes you to sweat.

5. Stay warm. Put on a sweatshirt or sweatpants to keep your muscles warm. This helps improve your stretches and can prevent muscle soreness.

6. Keep moving for at least 10 to 20 minutes. Depending on how vigorous your run, you'll need to keep moving to maintain steady circulation and reduce your risk of injury. Stand up, move around and walk slowly to keep your energy up as you cool down.

Calculate Running Mileage

Calculate Running Mileage

Without some sort of GPS watch to record your runs, calculating your mileage is nothing more than a guess. However, the Internet provides you with an easy way to figure out the length of your workout after the fact. Just log on to mapmyrun.com so you can record your distance in a running log.

Instructions

1. Go to mapmyrun.com and click on "Start Mapping." From there, you either can create an login so the site remembers your settings and routes in the future, or you can skip ahead by hitting "Close Window."

2. Type the area code or city in which you ran in the "Jump To" box at the top of the page and press "Go."

3. Zoom in or out or move around the screen using the tools on the left side until you locate your starting point. You also can drag the screen in any direction by holding down the left button on your mouse as you move around.

4. Click on the green start marker on the right side of the screen, then click on your starting point on the map to place it there.

5. Click on the map to draw your route. The red path will be made up only of straight lines, so make sure you click often to create turns. If you ran only on roads, put a checkmark in the box next to "Follow Roads" on the right side of the screen. That will allow you to click only where you turned to create your route; the website will do the rest.

If you erred as you created the path, hit the "Undo" button on the right side of the screen to go back a step. To start over, hit the "Clear" button. The mileage counter under "Info & Tools" will increase as you complete your route, and numbered markers will appear on your route at each mile.

6. Click on the "End" marker on the right side of the screen when you have finished mapping your route and place the stop sign at that point on the map. Your final mileage will appear under "Info & Tools."

Develop A Lean Body

Long distance runners have lean bodies.

A lean body is a firm body with well-developed muscles and carries no fat except for the essential kind. A 30-year-old man with a body fat percentage of between 3.5 and 8.4 is lean, with it increasing to between 12.5 and 19 for a woman of the same age. The older you get, the more lean muscle you lose. According to Edwards Laskowski, M.D., a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist at the Mayo Clinic "if you don't do anything to replace the lean muscle you lose, you'll increase the percentage of fat in your body."

Instructions

1. Develop a lean body through exercise. Aerobic exercise burns fat and is a great precursor to a strength-training program. Any exercise that involves repetition using large muscles -- your legs, for example -- will help you lose inches. Brisk walking, jogging, running, rowing and cycling are good examples of exercises that you can complete at 60 to 90 percent of your maximum heart rate. According to Medline Plus, adults should perform at least 2.5 hours of aerobic exercise a week. If you want a lean body, you need to shift any excess fat, and there is no better way to help with this than aerobic exercise.

2. Build up your lean body mass with strength training. The more muscle you have, the more efficient you will be in converting fat to lean muscle. Use your body weight as a strength training aid by doing push-ups, pull-ups, crunches and leg squats. Resistance tubing also provide a great full-body, strength-training workout. For beginners to strength training, perform sets of 12 to15 repetitions of exercises, such as bicep curls, tricep extensions, bench press, seated row and military press.

3. Eat the right food. No good training routine is complete unless complemented with a good diet. In order to shift fat and build lean muscle, give your body the right food. Food high in calcium helps break down fats, and high-fiber food like sweet potato keeps insulin levels low. Find foods high in choline -- soybeans are a great example -- as it helps block fat absorption and breaks down fatty deposits. Oranges have flavone, which is a fat-blasting compound, and berries such as strawberries and raspberries, being high in vitamin C, help burn fat. Alpha-linolenic acid, found in almonds, increases fat metabolism, and turmeric may slow the growth of fat tissue.

Calculate Change In Percentages

A calculator can help you find the change in percentage.

A percentage change measures the size of a change relative to the original amount rather than as a number. For example, for a decrease from 10 to six, instead of saying you lost four, the percentage change would be a decrease of 40 percent. By measuring as a percentage, you can get a better sense of the significance of the gain or loss. For example, a salary increase of $500 would mean next to nothing to a company president, but to someone making $20,000 a year, it would be much more significant.

Instructions

1. Subtract the beginning value from the ending value. For example, if tuition cost $20,000 last year and increased to $21,000 this year, subtract $20,000 from $21,000 to get an increase of $1,000.

2. Divide the increase or decrease by the beginning value to find the change expressed as a rate. In this example, divide $1,000 by $20,000 to get 0.05.

3. Multiply the rate by 100 to convert to a percentage. Completing this example, multiply 0.05 by 100 to get 5 percent.

Build Muscle For A Growing Teen

Many bodybuilders begin lifting weights as teens.

A good time to start lifting weights and building muscle is when you are a teenager. The bodies of teenager can recover quickly from physical stress, and because their bodies are still growing, they can gain muscle mass in a short time. Any teenager can begin to build muscle with a proper diet and exercise regimen. Discipline, dedication and hard work are the most important factors. The amount of time it takes to see results will depend heavily on the amount of work both inside and outside the gym.

Instructions

1. Make a workout schedule and stick to it. Consistency is important for building muscle. Set aside 30 to 90 minutes every other day for going to the gym.

2. Plan your workouts ahead of time. Write down your workout routine before you go to the gym. Keep a strict record of the workouts you perform--along with the number of repetitions, sets and amount of weight--to track your improvement.

3. Use proper weightlifting and training techniques. Many teenagers working out for the first time do not know proper technique. Consult with a personal trainer or your P.E. teacher to learn use the workout equipment and perform exercises properly. This will help you avoid injuries and build muscle faster.

4. Train your upper and lower body equally. This is especially important if you plan to enter bodybuilding competitions. Many amateur weightlifters train their upper bodies and ignore their legs. Neglecting the lower body creates a disproportionate physique.

5. Challenge new muscle groups and change your routine constantly. Working the same muscle groups, in the same way, over and over will cause plateaus. A plateau is what happens when your muscles hit a point at which they are no longer challenged. As a consequence, you begin to see more modest results. To maintain steady growth in size and strength, you must frequently challenge your muscles in new ways by doing a wide variety of exercises.

6. Get plenty of rest. Rest is one of the most important elements in building muscle. Muscles get bigger by repairing themselves during rest. Get a full eight hours of sleep every night and allow your muscles to rest least 24 to 48 hours between workouts.

7. Eat a proper diet, consisting of protein, fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates. Adequate and balanced nutrition is essential for muscle building. Teenagers need even more nutrients than adult athletes, because their bodies are still growing. Eat 3 to 5 well-balanced meals a day, and snack on protein bars, protein shakes or pieces of fruit in between meals. Good foods to eat: eggs, oatmeal, natural peanut butter, green vegetables, and berries.

Find Clothes To Sell For A Business

Starting and running a business selling clothing requires skill and time. This business idea requires that you develop a myriad of sources of new and used clothing. As you develop contacts in the fashion field, it becomes easier to run a clothing business. This business has strong revenue potential and will always be interesting, as fashion trends change rapidly and the business follows their lead.

Instructions

1. Attend local flea markets and look for bargains on used clothing and accessories. You may find "used" clothing that still has the store tags attached. Other used clothing that is in good condition would be useful stock for a clothing store. The flea market offers an ever-changing variety of clothing. Regular treks to the flea market will let you acquire many clothes at highly discounted prices.

2. Peruse local secondhand and thrift stores. These stores offer quality merchandise at reasonable prices. They can be full of up-to-date fashions and accessories. Some stores even have new merchandise donated by a store or fashion designer--offered well below their original retail price. These stores, such as those run by Goodwill and the Salvation Army, offer a wide selection of clothing, from wedding and prom dresses to T-shirts and fashion accessories.

3. Shop at local consignment stores to find more upscale clothing items. Consignment stores offer excellent items of designer clothing. Often if an item does not sell within a month its price is lowered to move merchandise out of the store. Consignment stores receive many donations from people looking for a tax deduction. Therefore, they can be a good source of ritzy, high-quality clothing at competitive prices.

4. Tell friends, family and business contacts that you are starting a clothing business. Ask them to spread the word that you will offer reasonable prices for used clothes that anyone wants to move out of their closets. As the word spreads you will have people coming to you to sell their clothing.

5. Post notices that you are opening a new clothing store and encourage local designers to contact you to show you their clothing lines. You will benefit from meeting new designers and building a lasting relationship with them as you showcase their fashion lines in your store.

Buy Radio Advertising

For many advertisers, radio represents a happy medium in terms of the number of customers reached and financial investment. Broader and more direct than newspaper ads but less expensive than television commercials, radio ads can be the answer for many businesses.

Radio ads can be purchased relatively easily by following a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Determine your target market using sales statistics, customer information and research, if available, then select the local radio station(s) most suited to your customer demographics.

2. Determine when you want your ads to play by deciding if your target customer is likely to be commuting to or from work or if your market will be listening to the radio during the day or at night.

3. Set a budget. Consider the Small Business Administration's recommendation of 42 spots per week to be aired three each morning and four each afternoon or evening for six consecutive days. (Be sure to ask the radio stations if they offer discounts on block purchases.)

4. Contact the station's advertising department and set up an appointment with the sales person to discuss options and make the purchase.

5. Listen to the station(s) regularly to monitor your ads and make sure they're being played at the appropriate times.

Deal With Feelings Of Rejection After A Breakup

Dealing with a breakup is always hard.

Dealing with a breakup is one of the hardest things to do. You may feel as if there is something wrong with you and you may start to blame yourself. Dealing with these feelings takes time and there's no magic solution. Don't panic, as things will get better in time. It's important to make a clean break and move on with your life as soon as possible. A few simple steps can help you deal with a painful breakup and get your life back to normal.

Instructions

1. Realize that the relationship is over and confront your feelings. Plunging back into work or school can be a diversion, but won't help you deal with feelings of rejection. Eventually, the feelings will surface. The sooner you understand that your relationship is over, the sooner you'll be able to feel better.

2. Talk to friends and families. You may feel as if there's something wrong with you, and talking to people who care about you can help rebuild your self esteem. Even if you're not ready to talk about your breakup, just talking to people who care can help.

3. Stay away from your ex, at least for a while. You may want to remain friends or stay in touch, but close contact immediately after the split can reinforce old feelings and make it hard to move on. Don't call or email your ex and avoid social networking sites that offer the temptation of monitoring your ex.

4. Take some time to enjoy yourself. Go on a vacation or do something you've never had the chance to do. This may only be a temporary solution, but it will make you feel better and help rebuild your confidence.

5. Tell yourself that you're starting new. The more you think about your ex, the more trouble you'll have moving on. If you keep focusing on your breakup, you may continue to have feelings of rejection. Think of the breakup as an excuse to make a new start in your life. Get rid of things in your house that remind you of your ex and avoid places that remind you of your ex.

Find Out A Company'S Tax Id Number

Find Out a Company's Tax ID Number

It is necessary for a business to obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN) unless it is a sole proprietorship and the owner uses his social security number instead. Also called a Federal Tax Identification Number, an EIN identifies the business entity. Like social security numbers, the EIN has nine digits. There are several methods of checking a company's EIN that range from searching for the information on the company's website to using an EIN checking service.

Instructions

1. Visit the company's website. According to Business.gov, some private companies make their EIN publicly available on their website. If the number is on the website, you may find it at the bottom of the site's pages or on the "About Us" page.

2. Check for a public company's EIN. Public companies include their EIN on the first page of their SEC filing, 10-Ks and 20-Fs. These documents are available from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the EDGAR database.

3. Examine a nonprofit organization's Form 990. Nonprofit companies include their tax identification number on this form, which they use to report their financial information. You can search for a nonprofit organization's Form 990 on Guidestar's database (see Resources).

4. Visit an EIN checking website online, such as Einfinder.com and KnowX.com. These websites offer the service for a fee. Enter the information for the company in the fields provided and click the search button. The next page contains a link to the report. Follow directions to make the required payment so you can view the report.

Connect A Powered Subwoofer

You've decided that your stereo system or home theater is not kicking out the deep bass that you crave. Adding a subwoofer was an obvious decision, but figuring out hook it up has proven more difficult than you envisioned. Essentially, you have several different options that will be dictated largely by the available outputs and inputs on the equipment you're using. Here's do it.

Instructions

1. Use the line level output from your receiver, preamplifier or amplifier. This will be the easiest solution. The output will often be designated as "Sub Out." Your subwoofer should have left and right input connections, one of which may be marked "Mono." You can use a single audio cable from the receiver to the "Mono" input or a Y RCA cable (one connector on one end, two on the other) to connect it from the receiver to both left and right inputs on the subwoofer. In some cases, a receiver or preamplifier will have two output terminals so that a regular RCA cable can connect left and right outputs with left and right inputs on the sub.

2. Use speaker cable to connect the subwoofer. If you don't have a dedicated subwoofer output on your receiver, amplifier or preamplifier, your subwoofer also has inputs for speaker cable. Follow the steps below.

3. Run speaker cable from the main speaker outputs (left and right) on your receiver or amplifier to the left and right inputs on your subwoofer. Make sure to correctly connect positive to positive and negative to negative.

4. Run cable from the speaker outputs on the subwoofer to the left and right speakers, making certain to align polarities correctly.

5. Plug the subwoofer power cord into an electrical outlet.

6. Be sure that the subwoofer is turned "on" on your receiver, so that the low frequencies will be sent to the subwoofer. This applies if you are using the subwoofer out jack. If wiring using speaker terminals, you'll probably need to shut the subwoofer off on the receiver and set the speakers to "Large" to route all frequencies through the subwoofer. Some subwoofers and receivers allow you to set the crossovers, frequency cut-off points for the subwoofer and speakers.

Develop Color Slide Film

You can process slide film using a E6 developing kit.

Developing photographic film is about using the correct chemicals, for the correct amount of time and at the correct temperature. This is particularly true when developing color slide film. Color film is more sensitive to variations in water temperature and length of time than black and white film is. When done correctly, you can not only save on processing fees, you can also have the satisfaction of developing your own photographs.

Instructions

1. Place the slide film canisters into a film changing bag with a film reel, processing tank with lid and a pair of pliers. Close the double zipper on the processing bag.

2. Carefully open the film canister with the pliers and load the slide film onto the film reel. This takes some practice. You may want to use a test roll and try this step under full light before doing it inside of the changing bag. It is imperative the film be loaded onto the film reel in complete darkness; otherwise it will be ruined. When loaded, place the film reel into the tank and place the lid on top of the tank. Remove the tank from the changing bag.

3. Mix the chemicals into individual holding bottles precisely per the instructions for the individual chemicals. Label each bottle with the step number. If the sequence is not followed, the film will be ruined.

4. Place the bottles into a holding tank full of water at 38 degrees Celsius. Because this process takes more than 20 minutes to complete, you may want to run water in the tank so that it is steady at 38 degrees Celsius. When the water is at that temperature, place the tank holding the slide film in the tank of water for five minutes to warm the film.

5. Dump the water out of the tank and pour the first bottle containing the developer into the tank. Set a timer for six minutes. Agitate the tank by rotating your wrist in it for 15 seconds at one-minute intervals. Dump the developer out at the six-minute mark. Add water with a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius into the tank and agitate the tank for two minutes. Dump the water out at the end of two minutes.

6. Pour the second bottle containing the color developer into the tank, set a timer for six minutes and follow the same procedure of agitating the tank for 15 seconds at one-minute intervals.

7. Pour the third bottle containing bleach/fix solution into the tank. Agitate for 15 seconds at one-minute intervals for six minutes. Pour the solution out and add water at a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius. Agitate for two minutes. Dump the water out.

8. Add the fourth bottle containing film stabilizer to the tank and agitate for one minute. At the end of this step, you can remove the lid of the developing tank.

9. Place the tank containing the film reel under the tap and run lukewarm water through the tank for 15 minutes.

10. Carefully lift out the film reel, remove the developed slide film from the reel and hang the film to dry using a clothespin or film clip. Cut the slide film into strips of five frames and place the strips into archival film holders.

Build Muscle Without Gaining Fat

Eat less and increase cardio to lose fat.

According to Men's Total Fitness, gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time is nearly impossible, with an exception: beginners. "People who are just starting a weight-training program can gain a significant amount of muscle mass while losing fat," the site states. The problem is that the body requires opposing types of training to achieve each goal. Building muscle requires energy--consuming more calories than you are burning in a day, or overfeeding. To lose weight, the exact opposite is required--eating fewer calories that you burn, or underfeeding. Trying to do both at the same time is frustrating for most people. Alternating muscle-building and fat loss goals different weeks or months is a good way to achieve maximum muscle size and weight loss without getting discouraged.

Instructions

Lose the Fat

1. Keep a food journal.

Keep a diet journal to become familiar with your own eating habits. Try the online food tracker SparkPeople; it is free, easy to use and has an abundance of resources.

2. Eat frequent small meals.

Switch to a diet of 40 percent carbohydrates, 40 percent protein and 20 percent fats as recommended by the Bodybuilding website. Reduce calorie intake to below maintenance level. Eat every 3 hours to keep metabolism pumping at maximum efficiency.

3. Green beans are a good source of carbohydrates.

Keep simple carbohydrates to a minimum, focusing instead on complex carbohydrates like oatmeal, whole grains, sweet potatoes and green beans. Dairy products and fruit should be all but eliminated from the diet at this time because they contain simple carbohydrates. Remove sugar, candy, soda and sweets from the diet. Good lean sources of protein are fish, chicken, turkey and tuna.

4. Cardio is a necessity.

Do more sets using less weight during weight training during the fat loss phase, according to Bodybuilding. Another recommendation is to include high intensity interval training to burn the most fat for at least 45 minutes six times per week to produce the best results for fat loss.

Build Muscle

5. Eat extra protein to build muscle.

Eat more food, but not junk. Increase calories by a few hundred. Add about 2 g protein and 2 g carbohydrates to add muscle tissue.

6. Increase amount of weight.

Increase weight and do fewer repetitions. Increase rest periods between sets.

7. Build muscles.

Switch up the exercise routine every month to avoid plateauing. Muscle confusion is important to continued progress. Reduce cardio training to two to three times per week.

Finance Gas Stations

Gas station ownership can lead to financial independence.

As an entrepreneur, you may look into the gas station business as means to generate wealth and establish financial independence. Most likely, you will require debt financing to close these large deals. Over time, the interest expenses associated with your gas station loan may add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. To secure the best deal, you must improve the strength of your personal finances while avoiding the distinct risks associated with gasoline retailing.

Instructions

1. Identify a gas station for purchase that matches up with your financial objectives and budget. The gas station may sell fuel only, or be attached to a convenience store and mechanic shop. PetroMAC says you can structure a deal to purchase the business only -- without the underlying real estate. As a beginner, you could hire a business broker to help you find gas stations for sale.

2. Put down earnest money to be held in escrow by a third-party trustee. The earnest money may be less than $5,000, but it proves that you are an interested buyer. From there, the gas station owner should open his financial books so you can do a detailed profitability analysis of the business. If you choose to move ahead with the deal, the earnest money can be put toward a loan down payment.

3. Hire an appraiser to price the gas station business and its real estate. The gas station appraisal may take three to four weeks. Be sure to have the property inspected for cracked gasoline tanks and pumps that may cause environmental damage. Prospective lenders are concerned that gasoline leaks would cost you tens of thousands of dollars to clean up and repair. Further, municipal officials may shut down your business due to environmental concerns.

4. Review your own personal finances prior to applying for a gas station business loan. Order a copy of your credit report and FICO score from Experian, Equifax or TransUnion. A FICO score above 750 is excellent and provides access to diverse loan products at low interest rates.

5. Negotiate a purchase price for the gas station. A gas station may sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Be prepared to make a cash down payment worth 10 percent to 20 percent of the station's purchase price. A bank wants to work with an owner that puts his own money on the line.

6. Contact representatives from your current bank to work out a gas station financing deal. To complete a loan application, you will need both personal and business financial statements.

7. Work with a business broker to identify lenders that specialize in gas station financing. Be advised that big oil companies such as BP provide online resources to help franchisees get started in the business.

Calculate Average Water Loss Per Minute

Average water loss per minute looks at several different water containers to find the average water lost. Then after you have your average water lost between the containers, you can perform a unit rate formula to determine the average water loss per minute. Water loss can occur for various reasons such as transpiration or leakage. One use for this calculation is to see how much water you are losing from a leaky faucet.

Instructions

1. Place a measuring cup under your leaky faucet. Measure how much water drops from the leaky faucet each day into the cup. Move the cup each time you use the faucet and place it back when you finish using the faucet. Empty the water out each day at the same time and record the amount of water. For example, assume over three days the leaky faucet lost 5 cups, 4 cups and 8 cups of water respectively.

2. Add together your water loss from each day, then divide the result by the number of days you measured from your leaky faucet. In the example, 5 plus 4 plus 8 equals 17 cup, then 17 divided by three equals an average of 5.67 cups.

3. Divide your average amount of water loss by the average amount of minutes the leaky faucet could lose water. In the example, assume you tracked the leaky faucet for three days,so, 3 days equals 4,320 minutes. Then 5.67 cups divided by 4,320 minutes equals 0.0013125 cups per minute. So each minute you are wasting 0.0013125 cups of water on average due to the leaky faucet.

Cope Being A Coach'S Wife

Most people find that their spouse's job affects their marriage in one way or another. Given the fact that an individual who is employed full-time spends more time at their job than they do at home, it's no wonder. The ups and downs of the daily grind understandably create challenges for couples, but what if your spouse's frustrations and triumphs were showcased for a crowd of spectators? That is the situation for coach's wives everywhere. If you've married a coach, learning to deal with life under the scrutiny of stadium lights is only part of the adventure.

Instructions

Coping with your spouse

1. Prepare to communicate frequently about schedules. Then, prepare to scrap it all and juggle things on the fly. It's going to take considerable effort to coordinate your normal family commitments with the district game schedule. So flexibility and patience will be vital if you hope to avoid missing kids' dental appointments and talent shows because he forgot the local college scouts were going to be on campus to recruit that day. This can be extremely frustrating, and leaves many coach's wives feeling that their spouse is selfishly putting his job and athletes before his family. Try to remember that much of your spouse's work requirements are set by other people, so he often cannot avoid late hours and weekend work. Though this sort of flexibility is part of life with a coach, you have the right to ask and expect him to choose time with family over work when the choice is his to make. If he will do that, you'll find it a lot easier to deal with the occasional family trip that has to be canceled due to an unexpected bid in the playoffs!

2. If you are already sports savvy, great! If you're not, try to learn the basics about the sport your husband coaches. Most coaches don't care if their wife knows enough to fill in for the local sports announcer or only enough to know which team to cheer for, what matters to them is that you care enough to learn about something that is important to him.

3. Even if you don't share your husband's enthusiasm for the sport, appreciate his commitment to the kids he coaches. That's probably part of what you love about him, anyway! Most coaches genuinely care for their athletes and work extremely hard to help them be successful.

4. Understand how important your support is to him. When a game is not going as well as he hoped, or when his team's just clinched a spot in the quarterfinals, he's probably going to want to know that you're in the stands to cheer him on. Just as you would like him to be present at important moments in your life, try to be present for his.

5. Respect the superstitions and traditions that make him feel prepared, no matter how crazy you think they are. If he won't wash his "game socks" all season or insists on a pre-game breakfast consisting of a footlong chili cheese coney and key lime pie, just try to go with the flow. Some coaches feel that breaking traditions are dangerous in the midst of a winning streak or in the face of a losing one, so provided it doesn't potentially harm your guy (and provided he's willing to stash those socks in the garage and not the house!), don't sweat it.

6. Talk early and honestly about how he likes to handle both victory and defeat. You might think that a big win would automatically open your husband up to talk about his excitement and confidence after the game. For some, a win does just the opposite; it creates tension about securing the next win. On the other hand, when even the lucky socks don't produce good news in the win/loss column, your husband may want to immediately move on to planning for the next game where others may want to re-hash the loss over and over again. You'll want to know what your coach needs from you.

7. Find and nurture your own interests, career and hobbies. You'll find at any level of coaching that you will spend a significant amount of time either alone or with your kids without their father while he is at practice or at games. Don't spend that time resenting his absence, instead treasure that time as your own to do with as you wish.

8. Learn to collect praise and to ignore criticism. Coaches find early in their careers that their every move is subject to scrutiny from a variety of sources. At every level of coaching, your community will feel justified in both their praise and criticism of your spouse. It's a fact of coaching. So, in order to cope as a coach's wife, you'll need to develop tough skin.

9. Learn to bite your tongue. While everyone else may feel entitled to discuss your husband's performance, you'll never have a good opportunity to fire back. As great as it might feel to respond to difficult fans when they are critical of your husband, you'll never do your coach a favor by indulging yourself with that one well-placed come back.

Diet With Potatoes

Eating the skin of the potato will help you get the most nutrients.

Potatoes can give your body potassium, fiber, minerals, and vitamins such as A, B, and C. One potato has about 150 calories and if prepared correctly, it can stay low in calories. Potatoes are a useful diet food to incorporate into your diet in order to lose weight. Dieting with potatoes is effective, so long as you know what to do and what to avoid.

Instructions

1. Eat all of the potato. To get the full health benefits of a potato, eat the skin as well. Even if making mashed potatoes, you can do this by either mashing them in the skin, or peeling the skin and finely chopping it.

2. Avoid unhealthy and fatty additives. While baking a potato will yield all of the health benefits, adding extras like cheese, sour cream or salt can add fat and sodium. Try adding healthier flavor enhancers like salsa, a butter substitute, rosemary or garlic, or even a small amount of avocado to sub for sour cream.

3. Prepare potatoes in a healthy way. Avoid frying them, as this adds a tremendous amount of fats. Bake potatoes to get the most nutrients out of them, and remember to leave the skin on when preparing. You can also saut them with a little olive oil and add some other healthy foods like lean meats or veggies.

4. Incorporate a small amount of other necessary foods with your potatoes. While potatoes are very healthy, you still need variety with protein and other vitamins. For example, bake a potato and top it with some steamed broccoli, or add peas and carrots to you mashed potatoes.

Buy A Sports Jacket

Sport jackets are a versatile addition to any wardrobe, and can make any casual outfit more formal. Whether it's summer or winter, night or day, a sport jacket can transform your look instantly.

Sport Jacket vs. Blazer

The terms "sport jacket" and "blazer" are often used interchangeably, but there are slight differences between them. Sport coats generally have weightier fabrics, like tweed, corduroy or wool. Blazers are typically built with lighter fabrics.

Measure Size

On most sport coats and blazers, the size is indicated by a number, usually in the 30s or 40s that indicates chest size. To obtain your chest size, raise your arms slightly and measure just under your arms, crossing over your shoulder blades and the fullest part of your chest. The width of your chest, in inches, is your jacket size.

Guidelines for Buying a Sport Coat

When buying a sport coat, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, invest in a few classic colors to complement your wardrobe palate.

Look for features that fit your needs and comfort, like the placement of pockets and button detail.

Leave some room for layering for versatility in all seasons.

Consider the length of the sport coat. If you're short, buy a shorter jacket to balance your height. If you're tall, buy a longer jacket to accommodate your torso.

Connect A Dj System To A Computer

Many DJs are switching to a digital set up with computers to avoid lugging around hundreds of records.

With the advent of computer technology, more disc jockeys are using digital equipment instead of turntables and records. With a DJ system, all music can be stored on a computer's hard drive and played with the touch of a button. A DJ sound system, however, need to be connected to a computer for it to work properly.

Instructions

1. Turn down the master volume on the main mixer of the sound system, and unplug the power. Set up the computer where the DJ will be performing. Open the music player program that the DJ will be using and begin the music with the computer's volume turned up half way.

2. Set up the direct box next to the laptop. Plug in either a USB or firewire cable into the direct box, and then into the laptop. Turn on the direct box if it is self-powered (most compact models use the computer's power supply).

3. Plug the main output cables (that once ran into the record player or mixing table) into the direct box, noting that the direct box can accommodate either an XLR or 1/4-inch cable connection.

4. Plug in the main mixer and turn on. Slowly push the sliders of the main volume up until the music that is playing on the laptop is audible. Adjust the sound quality on the laptop by right clicking the speaker icon in the bottom right hand icon tray. Select "Open volume control," and move the sliders up and down on the "treble" and "bass" interface until the mixer is producing a balanced sound.

5. Adjust the knobs that control the treble and bass on the mixing board to increase clarity or boost a certain range of sound (for example, in a large open echoing room, it may be necessary to boost the treble more than the computer is able to).

Create A Log Book

Log your daily activities with a log book.

A log book is a kind of diary or journal that people use to keep track of a daily process. Athletes use log books to record their workouts. Dieters use it to keep track of their nutritional values and meals. Children at camp use it to log their daily activities and keep track of scheduled events. No matter what you need to keep track of with a log book, you can create one yourself. All you need is a word processing program on your computer, and a printer.

Instructions

1. Open your word processing program. You can use Microsoft Word, Works or WordPerfect. Start off with a blank document.

2. Type in your name, the date, and a title for the log book on the cover page. Add a picture or border if desired to give your cover page a more visually-appeasing design. The text of the cover page can go in the top center position of the page or in the bottom left-hand side of the page.

3. Type in the purpose of the log book on the next page. For example, you can type "This log book contains daily workout schedules" if that is what it will be used for. Add the participation dates on this page also. If the log book is meant to keep track of group activities, list all of the participants.

4. Type in "Date:" and then add a line as a placeholder for where you can write in the date at a later time. A quick way to do this is to turn on your "Underline" feature in your word processing program and then press the "Tab" key on your computer. Hit "Enter" a couple of times to move the pointer down a few lines on the screen. Add labels for the type of information you will be logging, along with blank lines as placeholders. Type in the label text, and then use the "Tab" key with the "Underline" feature turned on to add more blank lines. Keep pressing the "Tab" key to make the line as long as you need it. You can also make multi-line blank lines. These lines will show you where to write in the daily values in your log book.

5. Print out your log book. Print one page for the cover page and the second page. Print out several copies of the page with the lines. You will need multiple copies of that page to log in the information from day to day. If you only want to keep track of 10 days, then print out 10 copies of that page.

6. Put holes in the printed pages with a three-hole punch. Place the pages in the binder to hold them together. You can also staple the pages together, but it will be neater and easier to manage in a binder.

Find Affordable Running Clothes

Anyone who has ever experienced the "runner's high" knows how gratifying the sport can be. But, running is also one of the most affordable sports. You need not spend well over $100 on shoes and $80 on running tights to get quality apparel that performs and lasts.

Instructions

1. Look for comfortable, performance running gear in major chains, not sporting goods stores. The selection of running clothes and the quality of materials has changed dramatically at known chain stores in the last few years. You can find a variety of moisture wicking clothes, which draw sweat and moisture away from the body quickly, in fashionable colors and styles. You can afford several changes of clothes for what you might pay for a few items at a sporting goods store.

2. Search for clothes at the end of summer and end of winter. You'll find your best buys at any store if you search the racks toward the end of the season. The clothes won't be that outdated by the time you really wear them the following year, and the price is well worth the wait.

3. Keep your eyes posted for university sales. Sometimes colleges and university sports departments "purge" their gently-used gear, including team running tanks and tights. It will cost you next to nothing and you'll be able to stock up on your favorite university's or alma mater's logo gear. You'll also know that the money you spend there will go to fund school projects and fundraisers.

4. Drive a few extra miles to peruse a reputable outlet mall. Not all outlet malls are created equal, but once you find one boasting quality clothes in good condition with little imperfections, make it a top destination for your gear. Speaking of imperfections, if it's relatively minor and will not impact your performance (i.e., is not a tear in a seam that could rip as you're running) it may be well worth the additional discount you get as the result of this minor flaw. If your a decent seamstress, you might be able to fix even a more complicated flaw with ease.

5. Splurge on the shoes, if you must. With the money you save from not buying the prestige brands of running t-shirts and shorts, you'll have a bit more left over to spend on the one item that is most splurge-worthy: shoes. Even so, there are still alternatives to the $100 pair. Check out the discount stores that offer New Balance, Nike and Adidas at half the price of the sporting goods store.

6. Shop the youth section when possible. If you are on the smaller side, invest in running gear and shoes from the youth section. Some of the larger youth sizes (for example, girl's 14 to 16) can accommodate women who regularly wear junior's or smaller misses sizes. These products are often just smaller versions of what you find in the women's department, and the price tag is also a much smaller version of what you'll find in the "big girl's" area!

7. Convert your mainstream clothes into running clothes. If you're really cash-conscious, consider that hoodie you wear with your jeans as yet another item to grab when you go on a run. Okay, so it may not wick moisture the way your actual running jacket does, but it will keep you somewhat covered on a chilly fall day when you hit the trail.

Constuct A Deer Stand

A deer stand can help you catch deer by surprise.

By building a deer stand, hunters are able to catch deer by surprise. It also helps the hunter avoid spreading his scent around the forest floor, which can warn the deer of his presence. You can specially design your deer stand with pads to make hunting comfortable. You will need to make the stand sturdy, and finding the best spot in the woods to build it is the key. Deer stands are elevated in the air with pillars and the help of trees.

Instructions

1. Review your state and local laws on building stands on public land. Almost all areas ban permanent stands; however, temporary stands are generally allowed. Attain permission from the land owner if you are building a stand on private property.

2. Find an area with deer. Make sure hunting season is approaching.

3. Choose a sturdy and healthy tree. Find a V-shaped notch that was created between two strong trees. Plan to place your deer stand at least 5 feet in the air in the V-shaped notch.

4. Build a platform with four 2-inch by 6-inch boards as your frame. Nail two 2-inch by 4-inch boards on each side of the frame. These will act as your floor joists and will run down the frame length. Attach the platform to the tree notch on each side with 16d galvanized nails.

5. Space the 1-inch by 6-inch boards in a crossway position to the other boards and hammer them in with 16d nails. The boards will deter rain and prevent rotting to the surface of the deer stand.

6. Hammer the frame of your deer stand into the tree with 16d nails. Measure from the ground to the bottom of the deer stand.

7. Attach four pillars at the height you just measured to all corners of the deer stand. These will be used to brace the platform. Hoist your platform up with the help of someone else.

8. Hammer or screw a store-bought ladder to the platform or make your own.

Create Kate Moss' Signature Makeup Look

Create Kate Moss' Signature Makeup Look

Smoldering, black-rimmed eyes serve as the signature look for supermodel Kate Moss. To score Kate's look, you'll need minimal skill and you can complete the application in minutes. Dark liner and a black cream shadow are the major products used in this look. The eyelashes must appear separated and long, which gives the ultra-feminine effect of flirting with a mere blink of the eye. The dark eyes are set against a clean face. Long-haired women can go the extra mile to enhance this look with wavy hair. Shorter lengths also look flattering wearing this darkly lined eye. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Apply eye primer to the eyelids with your fingers. Eye primer is a cream or gel that prevents the creasing of eye shadow on the eye.

2. Use your hands to apply a tinted moisturizer to the entire face. Tinted moisturizer gives a near flawless finish with light coverage. Too much makeup on the face detracts from the eye makeup.

3. Apply a black gel eye liner to the upper and lower lash lines with a liner brush. The liner does not have to go on too neatly on the upper lash line because it will be covered later.

4. Apply a black cream eye shadow with a crease brush to the eyelid just above the liner and blend that color into the eye. Blend the color, by pulling it with the brush back and forth, with light strokes across the eyelid.

5. Apply black mascara to the upper lash line. Wiggle the brush at the root to separate the lashes without clumping them.

6. Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks with a blush brush. The color of the blush must correspond to your skin, so if you are of a pale skin tone you must use a pale blush.
