Find Clothes To Sell For A Business

Starting and running a business selling clothing requires skill and time. This business idea requires that you develop a myriad of sources of new and used clothing. As you develop contacts in the fashion field, it becomes easier to run a clothing business. This business has strong revenue potential and will always be interesting, as fashion trends change rapidly and the business follows their lead.

Instructions

1. Attend local flea markets and look for bargains on used clothing and accessories. You may find "used" clothing that still has the store tags attached. Other used clothing that is in good condition would be useful stock for a clothing store. The flea market offers an ever-changing variety of clothing. Regular treks to the flea market will let you acquire many clothes at highly discounted prices.

2. Peruse local secondhand and thrift stores. These stores offer quality merchandise at reasonable prices. They can be full of up-to-date fashions and accessories. Some stores even have new merchandise donated by a store or fashion designer--offered well below their original retail price. These stores, such as those run by Goodwill and the Salvation Army, offer a wide selection of clothing, from wedding and prom dresses to T-shirts and fashion accessories.

3. Shop at local consignment stores to find more upscale clothing items. Consignment stores offer excellent items of designer clothing. Often if an item does not sell within a month its price is lowered to move merchandise out of the store. Consignment stores receive many donations from people looking for a tax deduction. Therefore, they can be a good source of ritzy, high-quality clothing at competitive prices.

4. Tell friends, family and business contacts that you are starting a clothing business. Ask them to spread the word that you will offer reasonable prices for used clothes that anyone wants to move out of their closets. As the word spreads you will have people coming to you to sell their clothing.

5. Post notices that you are opening a new clothing store and encourage local designers to contact you to show you their clothing lines. You will benefit from meeting new designers and building a lasting relationship with them as you showcase their fashion lines in your store.
