Connect an active subwoofer to a stereo mixer with a dedicated subwoofer cable.
A stereo mixer shapes audio signals for optimal sound in concert applications and studio recordings. Mixers are equipped with a variety of output jacks to reproduce the processed audio, including subwoofer outputs for connecting the mixer to subs that produce low-frequency bass. Active subwoofers are self-powered, meaning they contain a built-in amplifier for power. Active subs do not place any power demands on amplifiers, so the amps can be used for other power needs, such as stereo speakers and musical instruments.
Instructions
1. Turn off the stereo mixer board and unplug the subwoofer electrical cord from the power supply.
2. Insert the plug on one end of a subwoofer cable into the Sub "OUT" jack on the stereo mixer. The plug goes straight into the jack until it seats with a click.
3. Plug the other end of the cable into the "Input" jack on the back of the sub.
4. Plug in the sub's electrical cord and adjust the volume control knob on the back panel to the desired level.
