You can camp near the Magic Kingdom.
If you are planning a family vacation to Disney World in Florida and are hoping to camp, you can do it within the park complex. Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground has full hookups, including 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer, satellite or cable TV and wireless Internet. If you have dates you wish to camp, make your reservations as early as possible. Camping spaces fill up fast and are hard to get during holidays and peak tourist times.
Instructions
1. Log onto the Disney World website. Enter your travel dates and the kind of campsite you need. As of 2011, Fort Wilderness has four types of sites: tent, full hookups, preferred and premium. Vacationers pay more for preferred and premium locations. Premium sites feature an extra large concrete pad. Reserve your campsite by paying for the booking on the website or by phoning the reservations agent. Print out copies of all reservations and confirmation numbers.
2. Pack your RV or camper full of food, games and drinks. RVs up to 45 feet long can be accommodated. Provisions are available in the park, but are a bit more expensive than at outside grocery stores. Check in and ask for any updates on bringing in firewood from outside sources. Outside firewood may not be allowed in the campground due to insect infestations.
3. Do not leave your pets unattended during your stay. Pets must be leashed in the campground. There is a leash-free play zone where four-legged visitors can run.
4. Respect quiet hours. Turn off stereos and generators and turn down the volume on televisions. Quiet hours are typically between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
