Build Muscle From Sprinting

One way to build your muscles is through regular sprinting. The high-intensity action will break down your large leg muscles, forcing them to grow larger to compensate. Also, like all cardiovascular exercise, the balance and attention to form will force your other muscles to grow as well. The key to building muscle from sprinting is to do it correctly. Sprinting isn't just running fast -- it's using the right form to use the right muscles to gain both muscle and speed.

Instructions

1. Keep your head up and your back straight through the entire sprint -- except for the beginning acceleration phase. This will ensure your foot lands right under your hips, which will keep your running action smooth, which will in turn keep your muscles activated.

2. Keep your knees up. Your thighs should be parallel with the ground when your feet are at their highest position.

3. Pull your toes up as you run. Your toes are connected to your calves through tendons, so when you pull them up you will engage the calf muscles. By engaging them before your foot hits the ground, you will be preparing your calf muscles to fire again when you push off for the next step.
