If you are already routinely weight training, you may want to increase the speed of your muscle growth with supplements. There is a wide variety of supplements available, from protein powder to creatine to multivitamins and many others. These supplements are just that--supplemental. While they can assist you with muscle gains, they absolutely have to be paired with a weight training regimen. Without regular muscle breakdown through weight lifting, the supplements will have nothing to work on and will therefore be useless.
Instructions
1. Mix some whey protein with milk and a fruit with carbohydrates (such as a banana) immediately after your workout. Whey protein is processed quickly, which means it will go straight to your damaged muscles and begin working on repairing them.
2. Drink a casein protein shake before bed. Casein protein is the contrast to whey protein--it is slow-release rather than quick-release. Since your muscles undergo a lot of growth and development when you are sleeping, this is an excellent way to aid that growth.
3. Drink a shake made out of a blended protein product to get a mix of these effects. This is a good option if you want to add protein to your diet but do not want to shell out the money for multiple varieties of protein.
4. Mix creatine with your post-workout shake. Creatine releases your body's ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the chemical behind explosive energy in your muscles. This lets you lift more weight and do more reps than you would be able to do without it. This is a non-hormonal effect, too--no steroids are involved.
5. Take one multivitamin per day to make up any gaps in your diet.
