Losing weight is a combination of a healthy diet and exercise. The Biggest Loser television show shows the contestants exercising and competing in physical challenges the majority of each episode, but the other half of the weight loss equation is diet. To maximize your weight loss results at home, you not only need to exercise, you need to eat like a Biggest Loser contestant too.
Instructions
1. Consume less calories than you burn. The Biggest Loser contestants eat 1200 calories a day and burn at least 6000 calories each day. You need to create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight.
2. Keep a food journal. Studies show that people that keep a record of what food they eat each day lose much more weight than those who don't.
3. Eat three meals each day and two snacks. Prepare meals and snacks ahead of time so you always have something healthy ready to eat. This will decrease your chances of eating something unhealthy when you are really hungry.
4. Eat four servings of fresh fruits and vegetables each day.
5. Eat three servings of protein each day. Good protein choices are lean meat, vegetarian options and low-fat dairy.
6. Eat two servings of whole grains each day as part of your diet.
7. Consume only one serving of fat, sugar, oil or alcohol each day. This serving should be less than 200 calories.
8. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. If you are exercising heavily, you need to drink even more water to stay hydrated.
9. Learn to cook your food like The Biggest Loser contestants. Do not cook your food in fat, oil, and grease. Instead use methods such as steaming, poaching and boiling, that do not add calories to your meals.
10. Avoid foods that are high in fat, processed, and contain white sugar, white flour, and butter. Foods such as soda pop, chips, pizza, ice cream and donuts, taste really good, but they are the reason The Biggest Loser contestants are on the show. Change your food habits for good and develop new taste buds that crave fresh and wholesome foods.
