If you open programs and files on your computer with the Run command, you may want to occasionally delete your run history. This history documents for all to see what programs were recently accessed, and it can fill with programs that are long since deleted.
Instructions
1. Click on the Start function on the lower left corner of the toolbar and click on the "Run" option. This opens a sub-window titled "Run."
2. Type "regedit" command in the "Open" field. The dropdown menu on the "Open" field is where users view the run history. This command opens the "Registry Editor" window in folder view.
3. Expand the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder to view all of the sub folders by clicking on the plus sign next to the folder icon.
4. Repeat the expanding of the following folders, starting with the Software folder, and systematically find and expand the following folders: Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion and open the Run folder.
5. Look for the programs that are in the "Run History" listed in the right windowpane of the "Registry Editor" window.
6. Right-click the name of the program you want to delete from the run history. Select "Delete." A popup window will ask for confirmation. Choose "Yes" and watch the history disappear.
