Buy Shoes for High Arches
If you have high arches, you will be able to see it when you look at your foot. Your foot will curve upwards on the inside, and when you press against the base of your foot at the arch it will be relatively rigid. High arches are not necessarily a problem, but there are things you can do to eliminate the pain that is sometimes associated with this foot formation.
Instructions
1. Make sure you purchase shoes with arch support. Arch supports cushion your feet and distribute your body weight more evenly, so you will be less likely to feel pain after running or walking.
2. Determine if your foot suppinates, or rolls outward, when you run. You can tell if you suppinate by looking at shoes that you have worn for awhile--if you have this problem your shoes will be more worn on the outside than on the inside. If you suppinate, you should buy an athletic shoe with a soft midsole and extra cushioning.
3. Choose shoes with low heels, and make sure that your toes aren't jammed into the front. Comfort is key for people with high arches.
4. Maintain an ideal weight. Excess weight can lead to foot problems for everyone, but it is especially tough on people with high arches.
5. See a podiatrist if you are experiencing foot pain.
