It's hard to find a universally flattering shade of red lipstick.
Red lipstick can quickly change your look from simple to dramatic. However, choosing a shade of red is not as simple as picking a color that you like and applying it. Not all shades of red are flattering on all skin colors. To find a shade of red lipstick that's flattering on you, you must take your skin tone into consideration. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Figure out what skin coloring you have. Determine whether you have alabaster, fair, medium, olive, brown or black and also whether your skin is warm-toned or cool-toned. Those with warm skin tend to look better in gold jewelry while those with cool skin look better in silver jewelry.
2. Choose a red shade of lipstick based on your skin tone. A blue-based, coral red looks best on those with alabaster and fair skin. A true red or cranberry red looks best on those with olive or medium skin. Burgundy or dark brick red looks best on those with darker skin tones.
3. Choose a shade based on whether you have a warm or cool skin tone. Choose a wine red shade if you have warm skin and a blue-based red shade if you have cool skin.
