To truly be a golfer you must be willing to adopt the attitude of a postman: "Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow..." True golfers are willing to suffer the elements in order to further suffer the game's agonies.
Instructions
1. Commit to the concept of "layered dressing." A waterproof shell over a light cotton sweater over a short sleeved shirt over an all-weather undergarment is far superior to a heavy jacket and a long-sleeved shirt.
2. Buy outerwear that is waterproof and not water repellent. Only a rain jacket that is waterproof will keep you dry.
3. Be willing to spend as much as $100 to $150 for a waterproof rain jacket and an equal amount for rain pants. You will never make a better investment. Waterproof gloves and a waterproof hat are equally valuable.
4. Consider investing in a rain jacket that has removable sleeves. This gives you one more option for adjusting as weather changes.
5. Waterproof an old pair of shoes, but make sure the shoes have new soft spikes in place. Wet fairways are always slick. There are a number of water proofing compounds. The newer silicone-based compounds are the best.
6. Carry an abundance of towels, the larger the better. They are invaluable for wiping grips and the seats on golf carts.
7. Dress your clubs as well as yourself. Make sure that you have a waterproof cover for your bag that allows easy access to clubs but completely protects them.
