Connect A Brass Bib To Pvc

Use an adaptor to connect the bib to the pipeline.

Brass hose bibs (also known as spigots or outside faucets) have an end thread that screws onto the water supply line. If that line is PVC (or CPVC), a female adaptor is needed to connect the bib in place. The adaptor has a threaded female end in to which the is screwed, and a regular female end for the pipe end to be pushed into and cemented in place. Different diameter adaptors are available (including reducing adaptors) for different size bibs and/or water pipes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Wrap white sealing tape twice clockwise around thread on the end of the bob. Screw the threaded end of the bib into the threaded female end of the PVC adaptor.

2. Tighten the adaptor to the bib by placing an adjustable wrench around the adaptor's central nut while holding the bib and turning the wrench handle clockwise.

3. Brush PVC primer around the outside of the PVC pipe end, as well as the inside walls of the regular end of the PVC adaptor.

4. Brush PVC cement onto both primed areas. Push the adaptor (with attached bib) fully onto the end of the PVC pipe, ensuring that the bib is positioned upright. Hold the adaptor/bib to the pipe end for 20 seconds while the cement starts to set.
