Find A Business By Federal Id Number

Finding a business using a Federal Identification Number is a simple process that should not take longer than a few minutes to complete if you have the proper information accessible. A Federal Identification Number is assigned to U.S. businesses as a way to standardize businesses in the country and to have a database where business information can be easily accessed. While finding a business using this method may sound difficult, it is actually quite simple with the proper instructions.

Instructions

1. Open your Web browser and type the following Web address into the task bar at the top of the screen: "http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/rn/index.shtml." This is the website for the Federal Trade Commission, the organization that established the database for Federal Identification Numbers.

2. Click on the option in the middle of the screen named "RN Database-Search." The page that subsequently loads will give you access to the database of Federal Identification Numbers.

3. Enter in all of the relevant information you have for the business that you are trying to find. Some of the available fields to narrow the search include Federal Identification Number, name of business, type of business, city, state, ZIP code and product line. Once you have entered all of the information you have, click "Find" at the bottom of the screen and it will lead you to a list of relevant businesses.
