Delete Xbox Profiles

One of the initial tasks to complete when turning on your Xbox 360 for the first time is to create a profile. This profile saves all of your game data, such as achievements and checkpoints. It also represents your online identity with an avatar and custom profile name, among other things. However, sometimes you may wish to start fresh and create a new profile. Luckily, Microsoft made it just as easy to delete a gamer profile as it did to create one.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Xbox 360 and load the dashboard. If the console boots up a game, press the guide button on the controller and press the "Y" button to open the dashboard.

2. Navigate to the "My Xbox" section on the dashboard.

3. Scroll all the way to the right and press the "A" button on "System Settings" to open it.

4. Highlight "Memory" from the "System Settings" menu and open it.

5. Select the device on which your profile is saved, such as your hard drive or memory unit, and open it. You can also select "All Devices" if you're unsure where you saved your profile. This will open a list of saved data.

6. Select "Gamer Profiles" and scroll to the profile that you'd like to delete and press "A."

7. Highlight "Delete" from the resulting menu and press "A." Choose to either "Delete Profile and Items" or "Delete Profile Only." Deleting only the profile will not delete the saved game data on the profile.
