A donation of used ski clothing helps others enjoy the snow.
Michigan residents are no strangers to cold winters and snow. The midwestern state sees more than its fair share of the white stuff each year, making Michigan a prime location for winter sports and recreation. There are many ski areas in Michigan. For some residents with limited budgets, the costs of ski gear, clothing and lift tickets is prohibitive. A donation of ski clothing or gear will help get those Michigan residents out and sliding on snow.
Instructions
1. Contact a local chapter of the Michigan Lions Club. Find local chapters through the Lions Club website. Many chapters organize donation drop-offs for clothing and sporting goods. If you wish to use the donation as a tax deduction, bring it to your local chapter and get a receipt.
2. Contact Goodwill Industries. Find a Goodwill drop-off center via the organization's website. There are many Goodwill locations throughout Michigan and drop-offs are tax deductible.
3. Bring the clothing you wish to donate to one of the many ski areas in Michigan. Examples include the Bittersweet Ski Area near Detroit and Mt. Holiday near Traverse City. Most ski areas have donation boxes where ski clothing or gear may be dropped off.
4. Contact school ski clubs and ask if they need clothing or equipment donations. Many Michigan schools have ski teams or clubs and would be grateful for the donations.
