Develop 8mm Film
Though consumer level digital camcorders have taken over the market, you still can't beat the look of film. Despite the extra work involved, there are still those who choose to work with film. The 8mm film, in particular, works well for anything from capturing family memories to making short films. After shooting, however, the film must be developed. Once developed, the film can then be projected wherever and whenever you'd like.
Instructions
1. Load your film into the developing tank. This is where you will mix the chemicals together and develop your film. Load your film onto the developing tank's reel the same way you would load it onto a projector.
2. Ready your chemicals. Bring the stop bath, fixer and developer solutions to room temperature.
3. Fill the tank with developer solution. This is the solution that will actually begin to develop your film. Once your film is submerged, alternate between stirring and letting it rest for around 10 minutes.
4. Fill the tank with the stop bath solution. This solution will stop the effects of the developer solution. Stir it for around 30 seconds.
5. Pour the fixer solution into the tank. This is the final step before your film is officially developed. Stir your film in the fixer solution for a few seconds, then let it rest. Alternate this process for about 10 minutes to make sure the fixer has touched every last frame of film.
6. Wash your film (while still in the tank) with distilled water. This will get all of the last bits of solution off the film. After you've done this, your film is officially developed, and the process is over.
