Create A Health And Wellness Fair

Create a Health and Wellness Fair

Health and wellness fairs are the perfect vehicles for heath and wellness education. They offer health facilities to display the most recent developments and procedures in the healthcare industry, and provide an opportunity to educate the public on the importance of a variety of annual check-ups.

Instructions

1. Choose where to hold your health and wellness fair. Churches, school and community centers can offer free or low-cost facilities. Larger events can be hosted at convention centers, although these locations usually charge more.

2. Decide whether to have your fair focus on a specific illness or family of diseases, or have a general health fair. Your theme will determine the types of attendees you try to attract and the healthcare providers invited. You can focus on heart disease, cancer, elderly issues, etc. Also, you can have a theme based on other criteria, such as holistic, Eastern or natural healthcare.

3. Contact local practitioner offices, hospitals, acupuncturists, holistic healers and massage therapists. A wide variety of healthcare providers will attract more people. Make sure you have printed information on the fair to send to the practitioners.

4. Offer free health screenings. Nothing gets people out in droves faster than free stuff. Free blood pressure and cholesterol checks, and free hearing and eye exams not only bring out the crowds, but they can also help to discover health problems and risks in people who would not otherwise know there was anything wrong with them. Make sure you have providers attending who can provide these screenings.

5. Contact insurance agents. Health and wellness fairs compel attendees to think about their health situation. Those without health insurance may use this time as an opportunity to obtain it. Having insurance agents that represent a variety of insurance companies and plans will help.

6. Advertise your health and wellness fair. Post flyers on bulletin boards at senior centers and libraries. Buy mailing lists and plan a direct-marketing campaign. You can also have TV and radio ads.

7. Be sure to provide tables, chairs and booths to your healthcare practitioners. Make sure you find out what size area they need for their display and call local chair and table rental companies to obtain the right tables.
