A marathon is an admirable goal to achieve in the running world.
Running a marathon is no small feat. The race of 26.2 miles is grueling and requires dedication in training, proper nutrition and a drive to fulfill the goal. Once done, calculate the average minute time based on your overall time on the race. Remember, just finishing a marathon is an achievement in itself. Use the average minute time to streamline your training for other races.
Instructions
1. Find out your overall time for the race. For example, if your overall race time is 4:00:00, use this as your base time to calculate the minute averages -- also called splits.
2. Break down your time in minutes, with 60 minutes in an hour. For this example, a four hour marathon is 240 minutes.
3. Divide the minutes overall by 26.2, the number of miles in a marathon. For this example, divide 240 by 26.2 for a result of 9.16 minutes per mile, which translates roughly to a 9:10 mile.
