1. The first thing is to adjust your attitude. Do not feel sorry for the person or think that you are ruining their day. Realize that you are giving them the gift of freedom and the time to find their true love.
2. Next make sure that you do it as soon as you have the inkling. If you are even thinking about breaking up with someone, chances are they are not right for you. Why drag it on and waste your time and theirs.
3. Next keep the breakup short. Have a short 10 work sentence and then leave them alone to sort through their feelings. The longer they are with you, the tougher it will be and more likely they will cry and loose face. You want them to be able to keep their dignity.
4. Now make sure that in the breakup you are completely honest. Do not use clichés or sugar coat things. Tell them exactly why you are breaking up.
5. Last but not least set up break up rules. Let them know how long until you will talk to them. Make sure you give them at least a couple weeks this will eliminate the drunk calls and other embarrassing things that could happen.
