Blisters are a painful interference with any fitness or conditioning program. With a little prevention, and some easy first aid, you can treat your blisters and continue training.

Caring for blisters
1. Prevent blisters. Wear proper fitting shoes and clean and dry socks. If you are exercising for long periods of time, bring an extra pair of socks and change them during your training session.
2. Take care of any "hot spots" before they become blisters. Warm, red, tender areas on your feet can easily become blisters. A bandaid or a small piece of moleskin can be applied to the hot spot.
3. Clean the blister. Once the skin has blistered, you don't want to waste time. Wash the area with soap and warm water and apply triple antibiotic cream.
4. Cover the blister. If you are finished with your training session, a band-aid might be all that is needed. However, if you are not finished with your training, it would be good to apply moleskin. Cut a piece of of moleskin slightly larger than the blister. Then in that piece of moleskin, cut a hole in the middle the size of your blister. It should look like a doughnut. Apply the moleskin to your blister. The hole in the middle of the moleskin is there to take pressure off the blister, and to keep the moleskin from pulling off the skin covering the blister.
5. Keep the blister clean and dry, and do not puncture or drain the blister. While the blister is healing, wash it at least once daily, and apply a new band-aid or piece of moleskin.
