Create Kate Winslet'S 2008 Oscar Eye Makeup

Actress Kate Winslet's brown-lined eyes won the hearts of many during the 2008 Oscars. The subtle brown hues on the outer eye area soften the eye and have a smoky effect if you wear the look in the evening. This eye makeup works well for day or evening and looks flattering on all skin, hair and eye colors. Accessories enhance this look since the eye remains simple. Wearing the hair pulled back to show off the face makes this makeup more sophisticated. Any color of clothing flatters this eye look. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Apply eye primer to the eyelids with your fingers. Eye primer is a gel or cream product used to prevent creasing of the eye shadow.

2. Use a cream eyeliner pencil to line the inner third of the upper lash line.

3. Use a small shadow brush to apply a champagne pink eye shadow to the entire eyelid.

4. Apply a terracotta-colored matte eye shadow to the outer crease area of the eye with a crease brush. Gently pull the color inward with the brush toward the inner crease. This will soften the color so that it does not appear harsh.

5. Use the same crease brush to apply brown eye shadow to the outer third out the eye lid and gently pull the color inward with the brush.

6. Apply a brown eyeliner to the outer 2/3 of the lower lash line. This will help the eye appear bigger and more open.

7. Apply a brown-black mascara to the upper lash line and the outer third of the lower lash line. Wiggle the wand at the root as you comb through the lashes to prevent clumping.
