Knowing your pace helps you judge how fast you are going.
Your running pace is a look at how fast you are going over a distance. Since pace is a speed calculation, you need to determine the rate you want to calculate your speed based on. For instance, you can use miles. Then, you also need a time function for the formula. One of the most common is in hours. Therefore, if you use miles and hours, you can calculate your pace based on miles per hour. You can calculate your pace to see if you are showing improvements in running while training.
Instructions
1. Find the distance you ran. If you are running on a track, usually the track is a quarter mile each lap. If you are running a race, then the races tell you the distance of the race.
2. Find the time you ran the distance in step 1. You can use a stopwatch to record your time if it is not provided for you.
3. Determine the units you want to record your pace in, for example miles per hour. If your time or distance in step 1 or 2 do not meet the units you want for measuring your pace, then you need to convert the units to the units you want. Many online unit conversion calculators are available.
4. Divide the distance by the time to find your pace.
