Do Log Books For Childcare

Children require constant attention when you are providing their parents with childcare services.

If you run a daycare center, properly recording a logbook can make the difference between attracting and keeping clients, or driving them away. Logbooks, especially the forms which are turned into parents on a daily or weekly basis, provide parents with the peace of mind that you are being attentive to their child, in addition to providing useful information for their child's behavior. While creating and recording a logbook is important, this task can be successfully accomplished by anyone.

Instructions

1. Search the internet for free, downloadable daycare forms. At minimum, you need electronic copies of an attendance form, activity form, and accident form. Print several copies of each form. Good places to find these forms include suportingproviders.com, stepbystepcc.com/forms, and adaycare.com.

2. Fill out the attendence report daily, recording each child's time of arrival and departure. Make sure to have the child's parent initial these times when you fill them in. This will avoid later arguments about how long each child spent in daycare.

3. Fill out the daily activities form each day, one for every child. Include information about every meal (how much the child ate, and what the child ate), every activity (what the activity was, and how the child approached it), and any naps as well (how many and how long). Additionally, summarize the child's overall attitude throughout the day, and note any special developments, such as a child's new vocabulary words or improving manners.

4. Fill out an accident report form for every instance of unusual or injurious incident. Foul language, fighting, trips, falls, cuts, burns etc., should all be included. Make sure to make a copy to give to the appropriate child's parents.
