Donate To St Jude In Lieu Of Favors For Christening

A child's christening is an ideal time to give back to children's charities like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A christening is a joyous and momentous event for many families and their child. Christenings are often celebrated with a luncheon or gathering following the religious ceremony to honor the child. Many hosts and hostesses are opting to give donations in honor of their guests rather than giving out small favors. One charity that works to help children is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Since 1962, St. Jude has worked to find cures for children's diseases and save children's lives. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Visit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's website and click on the "Donate Now" page. Along the left sidebar is a tab to download a donation form to return by mail. Download this form and print it out.

2. Invite guests to your child's christening. At the bottom of the invitation, include a footnote indicating that in honor of her attendance, you will make a donation in their name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Decide on an amount per guest you will donate ahead of time, such as $5 or $10 per person.

3. Place signage, such as a framed note, throughout the christening party stating that, "In lieu of favors, a donation will be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Thank you for sharing in [child's name]'s day." If you do not want to frame the announcement, make personalized notecards for each guest letting them know that a donation is being made on their behalf.

4. After the christening, complete the donation form for St. Jude and be sure to list each guest's name within the letter so they will receive a formal announcement card from the organization as thanks.
